Happy Birthday Kanyon!

Kanyon  is one today. How is that possible? We had his party at the farm Sunday.  We are so thankful for the friends and family that were able to celebrate with us. This time last year I was so worried that Grandpa wouldn't be here to celebrate Kanyon's first birthday, but he was! It was a lot of fun! I also want to say THANK YOU to my mom and Grandma who cooked most of the food! It was delicious! 

                                 

He is such a big boy! He is cutting 6 teeth right now. That makes 14! He is going to be walking very soon!

Daddy's Hands.

I'm posting this early because Kanyon's Birthday Party is on Sunday.

This is what he does on his days off. 

He works. 

His hands stay cracked, bloody, calloused, and greasy. 

I thought this song fit him perfectly. 

I remember Daddy´s hands, folded silently in prayer.

And reaching out to hold me, when I had a nightmare.
You could read quite a story, in the callouses and lines.
Years of work and worry had left their mark behind.

There are things that I´ve forgotten, that I loved about the man,

My kids have the best daddy in the world. He teaches them, comforts them, plays with them, holds them, compliments them, protects them, disciplines them, and loves them unconditionally. He loves taking them fishing, camping, hiking, and swimming. He loves to teach them about the outdoors. He has so many obligations, but he always makes the kids a priority. 

Luke- I am so unbelievably blessed to have you in my life. I couldn't have picked a better father for my children. We appreciate all your hard work and all the sacrifices you make. Thank you for everything you do for us! We love you! I hope you have a wonderful Father's Day! 

We got him a ridiculously awesome present, but he doesn't get to open it until Sunday morning. I can't wait!

One Down...

And, one more to go. I am so thankful Kanyon's surgery is over! 

 We got up at 4:30 on Friday morning because we had to be at the surgery center by 6AM. 

 Luke and I got Kanyon a new lovey. His face lit up when we gave it to him. 

He was very hard to contain. We tried the bed restraints, but they didn't slow him down.

Gammy & Pappy got him a new soccer ball and Toy Story balloon. Those entertained him for a while.

He was bouncing off the walls! The nurse gave him some medicine.  They called it "goofy juice" and we quickly realized why. He was hilarious!

He was very sad when he woke up from his anesthesia, but he calmed down when daddy slipped him some cherry slushy. 

We are so thankful that he did well and praying that the tubes will help. 

Now, we just have to get Kimber well!

Family, Fun and Firsts!

Sunday Luke and I took the kids to the Natural's Baseball Game.  It was family night so the kids got to eat for free. The girls got to play on the inflatables and get their faces painted. After the ball game we stayed to watch fireworks. This was Kanyon's first time to watch a baseball game and his first time for fireworks. He loved them! We had so much fun!

Monday we took the kiddos to the creek to fish and swim. Kanyon had a blast. He is such a handful!

He is fearless and he loves water.

  

On the way home we had a flat! As always, Luke rescued us.

Kanyon has two more teeth coming in. That makes 10 total.  I had to buy a baby gate for the bottom of the stairs because someone learned how to crawl  up them!  We never had to latch the gate at the bottom of the stairs with the girls, but this boy will slide it over and crawl right past it. He is such a mess and he is one of the most stubborn children I have ever seen! He gets that from his daddy. 

Appointments Scheduled!

We made progress this week! 

Kanyon will be getting tubes on June 8th. Friday night the doctor told me that Kanyon had a virus on top of his ear infection. He said that Kanyon would have a high fever for 4 days and then he would have a rash. He had a rash yesterday! He is still pretty cranky though. I think his ears are still bothering him and he is cutting in two more teeth. 

I spoke with ARCH yesterday. We are taking Kimber for her consult on July 18th. Hopefully she will have surgery not long after that. She hates taking her medicine.

I am SO ready for both of them to feel well!

I can't believe that tomorrow is Kinnison's last day of Kindergarten! I am excited to have her home with us. 

ANOTHER Random Update.

I am so glad this week is over! It was even busier than planned!

Sunday we had Decoration at the farm. Luke and I got Kinnison and Ty an ice cream cake for Graduation.  They got to open a couple graduation gifts. Gammy, Pappy, Luke and I got Kinnison a karaoke machine. She loves it! She has been wanting one for a while.  (pictures in previous post)

Monday morning we went to WRMC for Kimber's DMSA Renal Scan. She did really well.  She cried before the catheter, but once they started she was OK. The nurse couldn't find a vein. Kimber calmly sat there watching her dig around for what seemed like eternity to me and Luke. Once they got the catheter in we had to wait for the medicine. Luke and I got her a new My Little Pony and a bag full of her favorite snacks.  Gammy and Pappy got her Barbie Vet Puppy and Purse. Grandma Robin brought her strawberries and grapes. She was a very happy girl! After they gave her the medicine they said we could leave and return in 3 hours. She decided she wanted to go back to Chuck E Cheese. We ate at Chili's. After lunch we went back to the hospital for the scans. She laid on a table and the machine did everything. It was really easy! We are so proud of her for being such a brave, tough little girl. I got the results back on Friday and they said everything was normal! Praise the Lord! Her kidneys are functioning properly and there is no scarring from the infections. YEAH!

Wednesday we had Kinnison's graduation and cookout.  (pictures in previous post)

Wednesday night Kanyon started running a fever.  By Thursday morning it was 102. I knew it was his ear again. I took him to the Pediatric Clinic and got him some antibiotics. By Thursday night his temp was 104. I had to take Kinnison, Kimber and all the equipment to the T-Ball game, so the poor guy had to come with me. He was miserable.  He started feeling better towards the end of the game.  He did OK Thursday night.  Friday morning I had to drop him and Kimber off at Gammy's house so I could go on Kinnison's field trip.  Gammy said he did OK. When I got him home his temp was over 103 and he was extremely lethargic. I held him for hours. He wouldn't let me put him down. I called the nurse at the clinic and she was absolutely no help so I decided to take him back. I didn't get home until 8:30 lastnight.  Dr. Grear checked him over good and agreed that 103+ is too high for an ear infection. (this is Kanyon's 9th ear infection and this one is not like any of the others) He re-checked his ears and said that from what Dr. Rasmussen wrote his ear has improved. He decided that Kanyon most likely has a virus with his ear infection that is causing the high fever.  He didn't see anything in his throat or hear anything in his lungs to suggest there was anything else going on. Both doctors did hear a murmur though.  They said it is most likely caused by the fever and should go away. 

On top of all of that I got the stomach bug that Luke and Kinnison had! I had it for 3 days. I was miserable!

I also wanted to share that I have lost 6 lbs! I have been on WW for about 2.5 months. I haven't been doing great the past couple of weeks, but am going to get back on track next week. I have 48 days until vacation! I want to lose atleast 3 more and would be ecstatic if I could lose 8.

Kinnison's TBall team is 3-0. They are doing great! I'll try to post details and pictures later. It has been an interesting season!
