Easter Part II

We went to the farm today to celebrate Easter with my side of the family. Every year my mom gets all of the kids kites. It was a great year for flying a kite. It was really windy. We ate a wonderful lunch, flew our kites, hunted Easter eggs and then got a visit from the Easter Bunny!

Easter Part I

Luke took the girls to Chuck E Cheese to celebrate Ulysses' birthday lastnight. (my parents decided we have to celebrate every birthday at Chuck E Cheese) I stayed home to cook. I got a lot done even though I felt terrible. I have felt bad all week. Kimber still has an ear infection. We will probably both be going back to the doctor this week.

We celebrated Easter with Luke's family today. The weather was wonderful and the girls had a lot of fun. We stopped at Decatur on the way there to participate in an Easter egg hunt. Next, we went to the Easter egg hunt in Sulphur Springs. We ate dinner and hunted more eggs at Luke's grandpa's house. Luke's mom goes overboard. She got the girls giant bean bag chairs, Easter baskets and TONS of candy. She throws out candy instead of eggs. I am guessing Luke and I won't be losing weight this month! We had a great day. We are so blessed!

Please say a prayer for Luke's family. His grandmother passed away lastnight. It is going to be a difficult Easter weekend.

Update on Carol: The Dr. is starting to show some optimism. They gave her a feeding tube and picc line. They are going to do a tracheotomy on Monday. She is trying very hard and is responding to Roger, Amber and Robert. Please continue to pray.

Update.

Thank you all for your prayers. Carol has made a lot of progress in the last few days. The doctors were giving us little to no hope yesterday. We had a little scare this morning, so they decided to do another CT scan. They decided she was doing well enough to start bringing her off the meds a day early! She opened her eyes, moved her mouth, squeezed hands and wiggled her toes. Both pupils were responsive. What a blessing! The doctors even started talking about rehab today. We aren't out of the woods and she still has a really long recovery. We won't know for days, weeks or even months what the full effects are. Please pray that she makes a full recovery. Please continue to pray for Roger, Amber and Robert. They have been amazing through all of this.

Also, I would like to ask for prayers for Luke's grandma. She is in a nursing home and isn't doing very well. She was diagnosed a few years ago with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. It is a horrible disease. There is very little information about the disease. Please pray for more research and a cure. Also, please pray for her comfort and for the family. Thank you!

Prayers Please.

Carol Tyree (my dad's cousin's wife) suffered a massive hemorrhage in her brain last night. Luckily her friends were quick thinkers and called Robert (her son). They took her to the Springdale Hospital, where there happened to be a neurosurgeon. Once his team arrived they rushed her into emergency surgery. The surgery lasted over 3.5 hours. They removed some bone to relieve the pressure and placed a drain to remove the spinal fluid. The dr. said she did well during surgery, but it could either way. We are very thankful that the surgery went well. We are also thankful that Amber (her daughter) made it home safely from Chicago. She didn't get in until around midnight. My family could really use some prayers right now. Please pray for Robert, Amber and Roger. Most importantly, please say a prayer for Carol to make a full and speedy recovery. Thanks.

Happy Spring!

This weekend we welcomed spring with almost a foot of snow. Luke measured the snow in our yard and we had 11 inches. We had drifts and accumulated snow on our vehicles that measured over 14 inches. Kimber and Luke have both been sick, but we couldn't pass up playing in it. I love snow, but I am ready for spring to really get here. It was almost 70 degrees on Friday and it is supposed to be in the mid 60's tomorrow. I love Arkansas weather!

I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the mail today. I received an invitation to the Honors and Awards Celebration at the University of Arkansas. Here is the note:

Mothers Day Out

Well, it is official...Kimber is a big girl. Gammy got her a backpack for her birthday and she has been dying to go to school ever since. I had to go to work today but couldn't miss her first day of school. So, I met my mom at the church a couple minutes early to get some photos. I was really worried about her. She has always been a mamma's girl. She didn't want to go into the room by herself. Once we were in there she was OK. My mom and I snuck out and watched her for a minute and then left. I cried. I sent her teacher a text message around lunch time and she said that Kimber was doing really well. She had cried a little bit and didn't eat very much, but fell asleep at nap time. Kimber said she had fun and got to play with babies. She said she wants to go back on Thursday. Hopefully she will do even better on Thursday!
